Overtime is limited to 720 hours per year: HRSD

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has established the maximum number of overtime hours that an employee can work in a calendar year.

The ministry indicated on the labor education portal that overtime is limited to 720 hours per year and can be increased with the approval of the worker.

In accordance with article 107 of the Labor Law and Ministerial Resolution No. (178743) of 9/9/1440 AH, overtime is calculated at the rate of hourly wages (overtime including bonuses) plus 50% of the base salary.

Without prejudice to more severe penalties stipulated by other law, and in accordance with paragraph 31 of the Penalty Regulation, the employer shall be penalized with a fine of 10,000 riyals which doubles the number of workers if the number of working hours exceeds the prescribed number. stipulated in article 98.
