Job transfer: Iqama fee arrears to be paid by the old employer

The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has exempted private sector companies from paying back government fees to workers who transfer their services. The new rule will apply to workers whose services are transferred on or after June 9, 2022.

Work permit fees, expatriate fees and fines for delaying the renewal of residence permits are now the responsibility of the company or organization from which the employee must transfer the service (the former employer), according to the new rule.

In this sense, the Qiwa platform of the Ministry of Human Resources and Human Development has begun to implement the decision to impose these rates on the former employers of the workers.

Local media said strong sources said the new decision would not apply to workers whose services were transferred before June 9.

The new decision is intended to allow startups to operate without incurring unexpected financial commitments, ensuring that they compete fairly with other businesses and avoiding financial problems.
